Vodafone

"[A] good advertisement is one which sells the product without drawing attention to itself."

(David Ogilvy - Confessions of an Advertising Man, 1971, New York: Ballantine Books, p. 79)

Vodafone Group Plc is a British multinational telecommunications company, founded in 1991, with its headquarters in London, UK. Being the world's second-largest mobile telecommunications company, Vodafone owns and operates networks in over 30 countries and has partner networks in over 40 additional countries.
The name VODAFONE is coined out of the words VOice DAta FONE, chosen by the company to "reflect the provision of voice and data services over mobile phones". Furthermore its Vodafone Global Enterprise division provides televommunications and IT services to corporate clients in over 65 countries (see map)

As the company expands, they try to invent and introduce new technologies, reaching new markets, developing new products. Therefore they created in 2009 Vodafone mHealth Solutions. This dedicated business unit offers a centralised approach to supporting both local and global health organisations across pharma, medtech, payer, and provider organisations. In 2011 an industry-first breakthrough was announced after their Access to Medicine solution in Tanzania – SMS for Life – saw its first ever mHealth full country roll-out. This life-saving solution is enabling timely stock management of five different malaria drugs for all 4,600 local health facilities in Tanzania. Furthermore Vodafone engages in Sponsorship such as Formula 1, has its own Foundation and invests in Sustainability, demonstrating and labeling its company as being a innovative and "good" in regards to environment and ethical behavior.

This is what they state about Sustainability: "At Vodafone, we believe we can help to build a sustainable future by delivering products and services that enable positive economic, social and environmental outcomes for our stakeholders worldwide. Our vision is to unleash the power of Vodafone to transform societies and enable sustainable living for all. Find out how we are working towards this vision and view our performance to date."

The Vodafone Foundation: The Foundation is at the centre of a network of global and local social investment programmes. Globally our Foundations make social investments by funding projects which support disaster relief.

A very interesting campaign they started in correlation to the Foundation is called "World of Difference", which is an innovative charitable volunteering initiative currently being delivered across the international network of Vodafone Foundations.
